“To my future child: I’m sorry that you’ll never have the chance to walk around a bookstore, and that all new books will be digitally zipped intangible things. I’m sorry that you’ll never rent a movie from a Blockbuster, and get to walk up and down aisles looking at movie boxes you don’t recognize. I’m sorry that you’ll never blow on your video games to make them work. I’m sorry that your malls will feature only two department stores, while having one or two empty former department stores sometimes inhabited by a Forever 21 or a seasonal Halloween store. I’m sorry that every brick and mortar business will have something to do with food, and that you’ll buy most of your clothing off the internet. I’m sorry that Master’s degrees are the new bachelors, and that you’ll waste four years going to school with dumber “cash-cow” students. I’m sorry about music, and auto-tune. I’m sorry about your social security. I’m sorry for 3D movies and 28 dollar movie tickets. I’m sorry my generation was lost…that we stayed inside and purchased everything from a screen and didn’t go out and keep small businesses alive, I’m sorry for Walmart grocery stores. More or less, I’m sorry for the complete laziness that I’ve grown up in. I’ll admit it, I didn’t do my part.
